here is a plan to throw the entire organization into chaos.

many of the 'apostates' here believe in the ransom of jesus - and the command to partake of the 'communion' of the lords evening meal, right?

i have come to accept that that 'memorial' is simply a recognition of jesus' sacrifice.

Revelation 19 talks about Jesus coming, but where does it talk about glorifing Jesus

11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. 19 Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and his army. 20 But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. 21 The rest of them were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.

Now personally as a believer that Jesus is God, I have no problem worshipping Jesus. But as a JW, Jesus would be a man and therefore not worthy of worship. Which remainds me that you did not answer my question of who deserves praise and glorification.

Guideposts and Serena Williams

imagine my surprise when my wife shows me the cover of the october 2004 guideposts with serena williams photo on it and the caption, "serena williams serving the spirit.

" for those that have not heard of the guideposts, from its own pages, "guideposts is a monthly inspirational, interfaith, nonprofit magazine written by people from all walks of life.

its articles help readers achieve their maximum personal and spiritual potential.

I have talked to JWs (not a lot), but most are evasive on what they truely believe or at least what the WTS teachings of Jesus are.

Let me ask you this. Who is deserving of praise and glorification?

How is the WTS like other religions?

the wts is always telling us how they differ from mainstream christianity.

so my question is how are they the same?

more specifically in structure not doctrine, that is another topic.. examples:.

Triple A

The Pharisees and Jehovah's Witness base their salvation in works and not grace of God.

The similarity with the Roman Catholic Church.

Both the Pope and the Governing body claim inspiration.

No salvation exists outside of their organization or their Baptism.

Also salvation is based in works not faith.

The Bible can not be understood without the Anionted/Popes interpretation and forbid the use of the Bible alone.

You must use their official writings, creeds, and Watchtower/Awake and they discouraging independent thinking.

Both feel that leaving their organization leads to eternal damnation and every other church is heretical and false.

The authority of each is not to be questioned (Rome/Pope says or Brooklyn/President says).

I wonder s ince the governments have these similar traits, if you see more Catholics come to the Witness faith than you do Protestants?

I know of no of no teaching in the Bible that tells us to lift up another man in such praise. Of course if you apply the Diety to Christ there is nothing wrong with the celebration. But the WTS hold Jesus as nothing but a man.

Yes, IMO is how I started that post. But lets look at your last statement:

True the belief is that jesus christ was michael the archangel but the point of the celebration is to remember that the "man" jesus christ died to cancel out the sin of adam that brought the curse of death along with it and that those excercising faith in christ might not be destroyed .

If it is not a celebration to the Archangel Michael, than it is to a "man", equally as blasphemous.

Non-JW teacher needing advice

hi there, i'm new to the board and have turned here for advice.

i am a new teacher and have a child in my class who is a jw.

as i know nothing about the religion i thought i would ask here.. i am aware that he will not be able to take part in re or religious assemblies or christmas activities.

Wow, now that is love. Billygoat and Valis both show a compasion that could save this child down the road. Hope you well share their comments with the other teachers.

My thought is that the WTS beleives that Jesus is Michael the Archangel. So if you participate in the eating and drinking, who are you doing it to? You said that it symbolic reference to Jesus' suffering.

including wine and bread which of were to be used in the symbolic referrence to jesus suffering .

So those that participate are doing so in celebration to an angel.

Heathen, when I participate at my church, I do so to remembering that Jesus died as a substitute for me. But he was not a substitute for God, I do not eat or drink to angels or the cross itself. A Christian Rock singer (sorry do not know his name) says in reference to Christ dieing on the cross, "It is not because of who I am, but because of what you have done. It is not because of what I have done, but because of who you are." Triple A

As a JW did you "take a turkey" or accept the Xmas Bonus?

i felt it hypocritical to take a turkey abviously meant for thanksgiving.

i didn't like buying the easter candy after easter either as it was "food sacrificed to idols".. years ago at a place i worked they gave out a xmas bonus which i returned.

( a few hundred dollars which we sure could have used) they assured me that it was an "end of the year" bonus.

As an outsider I admit that when my JW friend told me that she was going to work at a Christmas party serving food. Will I thought, "Isn't that helping Babylon the Great?" Than she started talking about how she liked working this dinner, since the lady always gave the servers extra for cash for working the celebration (not her word). Again I thought, "Isn't that excepting a gift which was given in the spirit of Christmas?"
